Graduate Certificate in Urban Disaster Resilience

Resilience to disasters is complex and multidimensional, and the 15- credit transdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Urban Disaster Resilience (UDR) draws on expertise and experience from departments and colleges across the university. The UDR certificate is designed to complement more traditional disciplinary graduate degree programs by providing required “broad view” gateway and capstone courses, each with strong practitioner components, but also allowing students to select more specialized courses treating various aspects of urban disaster impacts and, most importantly for the long-term, community resilience to those impacts. It is intended for students who seek 21st
century internships and careers in the private sector, the public sector, international and non-governmental organizations, and civil society.

The UDR certificate is also designed for educators seeking additional knowledge about one of the great challenges of our times. The certificate is managed by the Extreme Events Institute and its UDR Certificate Committee. It is open to both non-degree and degreeĀ seeking students.
